Flower preservation fAQ

  • My home studio is located in San Diego, more specifically the 92130 area code. I do not have a brick and mortar (yet!).

I have a convenient and safe floral locker for a seamless drop-off outside. This is by an appointment window ONLY. I will need to provide specific instructions. Please do not arrive unannounced to the general location without email/text/verbal confirmation ahead of time. No exceptions.

Booking in advance helps everyone plan for and be prepared for the drop off. I am happy to coordinate with you or a point person to make sure your flowers arrive safely.

  • Flower preservation is still a fairly new thing, and it’s understandable if you’re hearing about it last minute. Not everyone can book in advance, as things definitely come up last minute with memorial flowers, etc.

I am always happy to take your flowers, and make your memories last a lifetime. The minor downside is that the flowers won’t be in their utmost prime condition. This may reflect in your final pieces. However, your flowers will be in great hands. I will work with everything I have to give you the best results, but remember flowers are a part of nature. They are delicate, and were once living! Do not expect 100% perfection, because the beauty of floral preservation comes in the beauty of the imperfections… the beauty in seeing and feeling the memories of the day you were present with the same flowers you now can have forever.

  • Floral preservation, and any 100% handmade, custom artwork is impossible to give an absolute time prediction or constraint on. I have had the burden of the “jinx” and now will never say a piece is “almost done”. From my personal research and consulting with my peers in this special niche, the typical US/Canadian average for a sole business is about 6 months.

My current ESTIMATE is approximately 2.5-3 months. This is again, an estimate. It is very circumstantial depending on how many pieces you order, the type of flowers you have, the time of year, if you have previously dried flowers, and MANY other factors.

Just remember, your flowers are in the safest place possible, and you are going to have them for the rest of your life and beyond!

Note that advanced bookings take precedent over last minute. Booking in advance with a deposit means that that initial deposit is allowing me to source and/or prepare the necessary materials, and that they will already be ready and waiting for that specific clients flowers.

Last minute bookings get the absolute same care as each and every flower preservation. They may just have added wait times to be completed.

PLEASE be patient as every step of this process is extremely important, and labor intensive. Depending on the complexity, amount of pieces, flowers you have, and unforeseen circumstances, each client’s one of a kind flower preservations take an average of 20-40 (estimated) hours to create!

  • 100%. Tropical bouquets/floral arrangements require added labor and color restoration due to the moisture content and thickness of most of the beautiful contents, so I do charge an additional $65. Color restoration/correction is necessary to keep your tropical blooms looking bright and how they looked the day of. Otherwise most larger elements will be completely browned. If you don’t want color restorationfor your tropicals, no problem- but please dont expect them to retain their colorful appearance!

  • Yes! I have plenty of clients who have their special events in San Diego but live far away. I have no problem shipping anywhere in the US. Additional fees will be added for this service. If you have family or friends in San Diego I am also happy to coordinate with them if its easier for them to hold onto them for you.

    I do not ship shadowboxes.

  • It absolutely can! I have done many preservations with flowers that are already dried and they come out really beautiful. They have what we like to call a “vintage” look, so they won’t look like they did the day of, but it shows the feeling of time, which I think is really special. I can use a floral coloring spray to enhance them, but again (and depending on hey old they are) will still have their vintage look.

+SAFE+

I work in an environment that is constantly running multiple air purifiers. Every piece/boxed item I send out is disinfected with sanitizing sprays. I respect and value my clients and customers, and pull out all the stops to deliver my artwork to you in the safest way possible.

PLEASE be careful when touching or handling your art (canvases specifically with protruding crystals). Some of the crystals and fire glass can be unexpectedly sharp. Ring prisms can be very sharp at the point.

Floral blocks/trays can be deceptively heavy. 15 lbs + at times. PLEASE keep out of reach of small children or animals, or any place where the blocks can fall down and cause injury. I have barely escaped a broken nose from a block falling onto me, have sustained a black eye, painful contusions, and deep cuts from not being careful with these pieces. PLEASE exercise caution.

+SMART+

I try to be as environmentally conscious as possible. I am always upping my supply, which means a lot of cardboard boxes. If I have a box that is in great condition that is suitable for your artwork, I will use it. I package with care, patience, and perfection, and have tested my methods to ensure quality upon arrival.

+CARE+

Epoxy resin holds up very well, but it has different needs than mass produced artwork. Do not use knives directly on the resin, and the trays and boards should not go in the dishwasher. Hand clean the wood part of the boards with mineral oil to maintain, about once a month. To clean, treat the resin as you would glass. Mild soap and water, or non-ammonia spray will keep your artwork lasting the longest. I send out all pieces with care instructions.

KEEP OUT OF DIRECT SUNLIGHT/UV RAYS OR THE PIECES WILL PREMATURELY YELLOW OR AMBER

+RETURNS+

At this time, all sales are final due to the custom nature of every piece. Deposits will be required for floral preservations and commissioned artwork They are non-refundable. Upon entering an agreement through payment, you recognize all sales are final.
